The techniques of Bowen were confined only to Australia for the first couple of decades after they were discovered, but eventually they were documented at Tom Bowen’s request by Ossie & Elaine Rentsch and later taught through a meticulously planned course which was the precursor to the course that is being made available here in Dubai.
Qualification Requirements
The Bowen Therapy Academy of Australia is the original source for the teaching of Bowtech, the original Bowen Technique. It is the pioneering work of the Academy both in Australia and overseas that has seen the spread of Bowen Therapy to over 30 countries worldwide. To qualify as a Bowen therapist each candidate must complete the General and Bowen specific requirements listed below. Successful candidates will be awarded with a certificate issued by Bowtech Australia which is the hallmark of authenticity recognized worldwide.
1. Bowen-specific Course requirements
It is mandatory requirement of qualification, to successfully complete the first 7 modules of the curriculum put together by Bowtech Australia.
All examinations and certification for the Bowen Modules are administered by Bowtech Australia and Bowen Association UK. All procedures are taught by qualified Bowen Instructors from Bowtech Australia or UK.
2. General requirements include
Anatomy Physiology Pathology and Emergency First Aid
The certification for these can be obtained through local authorized providers.

Refresher Course
Attendance requirements: 1.5 Days
Refresher: Reviewing many of the procedures from modules 1 to 6
This module is a compulsory course for all qualified Bowen therapists as part of their continuing education requirements. It is to be attended once a year after qualification in order to renew the therapist’s membership and to avoid development of bad habits and maintain high standasrds of practice.

Continuing Education
All Qualifying Bowen Therapists are subject to continuing education to ensure they are always in touch with the latest advancements in the field of Bowen therapy as well as to ensure that the highest possible standards are maintained. All therapists must therefore undergo a 16 hours refresher course every year after qualifying. This is compulsory in order to maintain the membership with the Australia and UK associations. Bowen Dubai offers these courses with senior Instructors, often with more than 20 years of experience.
